Chandler's Birth Story

Monday, July 21, 2014

So this past month has been absolutely crazy, in such a good way, but it has just been a whirlwind!
We welcomed our sweet baby girl into this world on June 19th at 2:38 pm at 8lbs 6oz and 19 inches long! She is absolutely breathtaking and we couldn't feel more blessed!

So on Thursday June 19th at 10:30 we headed to St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville for our scheduled c-section at 2 p.m.  We had to be there by noon to check in [I think we actually arrived by 12:30 but everything ran on schedule even though we were slightly late].  We were scheduled for a c-section since Chandler was breech and wasn't moving into position.  I was ok with this, whatever it took in order for her to get here safely.  So we checked in
[last picture before we went back to get ready- I didn't realize I was so swollen]

and they took us back to our room to get ready for surgery.  My mom and dad were right behind us when we arrived to the hospital and everyone else arrived in spurts after that [Spencer's parents, my sister and her husband and my dads parents].  They started my IV, hooked me up the fetal monitors and started getting vitals and blood, asked me a million questions [more than once], we spoke with the anastegiologist and then met with my doctor before surgery.
[last picture as a family of 2]
About 30 minutes before they took us back they let our family come back.  They were only supposed to allow 4 people [besides Spence] back but in true fashion they all just came back without checking in lol so we had a room full of people to see us off.  My grandpa said a quick prayer with all of us for a safe delivery for us and a healthy baby and we were off.
They had Spencer wait outside of the operation room while they prepped me [thank goodness because I don't know if he could have handled seeing me get the spinal block and getting prepped].  Once they wheeled me in they had me move to the operating table and then sit up on the side of the bed.  My doctor had told me about a man named Lonnie that they worked with that was amazing at stitching women back up after c-sections and he was the one that helped me while they administered the spinal block.  It kicked in almost immediately and within 10 minutes I was completely numb [absolutely freakiest feeling in the world, imagine numbing like from dental work but from the chest down].  Once they had me prepped and the drapes were up they had Spencer come in- everything was moving so fast and at one point I asked them if they had forgotten about him haha.  They brought him in, sat him at my head and started with everything.  At about 5 minutes in I did feel a little nauceous and I said something to them about it [I didn't want her to get here and me get sick so I asked ahead of time for something], whatever they gave me kicked in instantly; it was great!  They then started telling him to get ready with his camera because they were about to pull her out, I think we were both confused since we didnt think they would let him look/ take photos of that part.

When she finally came out and started crying I lost it; it was the most breathtaking/ beautiful sound that I have ever heard!!  They immediately started commenting on her full head of hair and saying what a big baby she was [this caught me off guard because our doctor had prepared us for a 6 1/2-7 lb baby].  They quickly put her over the curtain for me to peek at and then took her over to the NICU station for them to check her out.  I could see her to my left and I told Spencer to go with her since I didnt want her to be by herself.

The nurses had forgotten to bring in scales so they called for some to be delivered so while we were waiting on those they brought her over to me for Spencer and I to spend some time with her while they finished up with me.  She was bright eyed and alert almost the whole time.  When the scales came they took her over to be weighed and when they told me she was 8lb 6oz I was in shock; I even commented on it to my doctor and had them repeat it just to make sure I heard them right!!

They then brought her back to me and I got to spend some time with her doing skin on skin while Spencer and I loved on her.  At that time they finished up with me and passed her back to Spencer so they could move me to a transport bed.
We spent roughly 2 hours in recovery, just the 3 of us.

[we were both a little tuckered out]

During that time they noticed that Chandler was "chirping" every time she took a breath.  They had someone from the NICU transition team come down to check on her and they determined that she had some fluid left in her lungs since she didn't pass through the birth canal [that usually gets rid of it from natural born babies].  They said that they would give her an hour and if it didn't improve that they would take her to the NICU transition for a couple of hours to watch her.  I was a nervous wreck at this point but while we waited we did skin to skin and even tried nursing; she latched on immediately and hasn't had any latch problems since [knock on wood!].  When they came back she was still doing it but it wasn't constant so they decided to let her stay with us and they would just keep and eye on her but to be on the safe side they told us that once we left recovery that no one else could hold her and I had to keep her skin to skin with me through the night.

The selfish side of me loved this since I didn't have to share her for awhile but when everyone left for the night Spencer did skin to skin with her and she loved it [daddy's girl from the get go ;)].
She stared at him for the longest time

Here are some more pictures from the hospital:

My last week being pregnant...

Friday, June 13, 2014

Where do I even begin to start- First of all I am grateful to be pregnant and have cherished every single moment of this pregnancy; the good and the bad.  I know a lot of women that strive for this for so long and for some it never happens and for me to actually be able to carry and nourish another life for 9 months is a blessing.  I know a lot have hard pregnancies and then I think some just like to say they do but I honestly think this pregnancy has been easy and I have been able to do pretty much anything I have wanted to for the entire duration.  I'm having a lot of mixed emotions at this point.  For so long it has been just her and I- I have felt every roll, kick, hiccup, flip, turn, somersault... I will never forget the day that I felt those first butterflies [absolutely inspiring].  At that point this pregnancy was truly real for me and I prayed a lot in the days following to let me just feel her kick one more time.  I worry myself sick over minor things such as lifting something I thought might be too heavy or doing too much-she will be a tough little cookie when she comes out-but in the end like a good little girl she reassured me she was ok by letting me know she was still in there doing well.  As the day approaches that we go to have her I am anxious to see her- what color hair will she have, will she have blue eyes like me or hazel like Spencer, who's personality will shine through or will she have one of her own- but in the same sense I don't want to give her up.  She is mine and I am hers, I have nourished and cared for her from day one [I am sitting here crying as I type this- hormones, probably but I have had this same thought over and over for the past 2 months].  I have rubbed her when she balled up in my abdomen, I have just sat with my hand on my stomach feeling her go from one side to the other- I have always looked forward to feeling her move whether its in the middle of the day, I'm in a business meeting or 11 pm and I'm dog tired- I will miss being able to feel her move around all the time.  I have no doubt in my mind that Spencer and I will be good parents because this little girl is already loved more than she will possibly ever know [Chandler your Gigi can't stand it that you're not here, she rubs my belly and talks to you constantly (if you felt someone poking and squeezing you it was her because she loves to feel you move) and I know that your Papa will break down as soon as he sees you].  She may never actually learn to walk because she will constantly be held and loved on :).  I am excited that she will have so many cousins her age- Baby Everett & McKenzie and we don't yet know what Joe and Jessica's little one will be but they will all be born in the same year.  Spencer was so scared [he probably still is but has learned to hide it] when he found out that we were having a girl.  He thought that a little boy would be easy and he would have someone to get dirty with- to play in the mud and go hunting/ fishing with.  I know that she will be right there beside him because to her he will have lit the stars and hung the moon.  Everyone has reassured him that little girls love their daddy's [she will be no different] but I don't think anyone can prepare him for the first time that he meets her; that's what I am most excited about, I can't wait for Spencer to officially meet Chandler. I think at this point though he has started coming around and he loves to see all of the pink, glitter, tutus and bows.  He talks about how cute she will be and what all he will do with her.  He is excited to take her to Marion Co. football games to show her off.  This last week of pregnancy I have caught him absently patting my belly or him glancing over as I watch her move.  We found out that she will arrive by C-section since she is breech and in no way, shape or form interested in moving so he is a little nervous about that.  I'm nervous for the surgery but honestly, whatever it takes at this point to make sure that she arrives safely is what we will do, no questions asked.  I catch myself staring into her nursery and its hard for me to imagine her being here... laying in her crib or us changing her on the dresser; I'm anxious to sit with her in the rocker, just her and I, to just take her in and love her.  There's really no point to this post other than I don't want these emotions and these thoughts to escape me.  I know once she arrives we won't be able to remember a whole lot of what our lives were like before she was in them.  To some degree I want the next week to fly by so we can meet her but on the other hand I want time to stop so that it can just be her and I for a little while longer.

36 Weeks

Thursday, June 12, 2014

How far along: 36 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates: She is about 6lbs
Weight gain: 20 lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: Everything that I'm not supposed to have... clubs, sushi, cheese dip from the Mexican restaurant, wine, Apple Ginger beer, having the energy to really do anything besides walk from room to room ha-ha
Movement: Still rolling around in there, no sharp kicks but she does deform my abdomen sometimes so I love to just sit and watch her move... I have a feeling I will miss this
Cravings:  Still on the fruit wagon... strawberries and cantaloupe
Food Aversions: None this week
Symptoms: She has moved into my ribs some this week so that's new.  Still have the backache and the swelling but other than that I'm just my normal pregnant self :)
Other Updates:  On Monday we had another doctors appt and Little Miss is still breech and not moving, her behind has already settled into my pelvis.  The doctor has set us up for a C-Section on June 19th so unless she decides to come early on her own this will be the official day that we meet her.  Wow even typing that I get emotional...

We also had our last baby shower on Saturday and we both had a great time... good food, Chandler got a lot of great stuff, the weather was perfect and we were surrounded by a lot of love.  Huge thanks to my parents and my sister for hosting and to everyone that helped them get ready that day, we really appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts and are absolutely blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives... baby girl will most definitely be equally as blessed!!

35 Weeks

Thursday, June 5, 2014

So I missed this picture in all of the excitement...

How far along: 35 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She is about 5 1/2 lbs
Weight gain: 18 lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: Being able to bend over, see my toes, roll over effortlessly in bed [I lay there for a good 5 minutes thinking about it], properly shave my legs [I have mastered the blind swipe- which is a little scary sometimes] and a good cocktail on the back porch :)
Movement: Little miss is still really active even though its rolls at this point... I swear the other night I could see my bellybutton pop out and go back in as she was pushing on it from the inside
Cravings:  Still a lot of fresh fruit and chocolate frozen yogurt
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: Still the ordinary... back ache, Braxton Hicks and a little swelling in my feet- I had to quit officially wearing my rings about 2 weeks ago
Other Updates:  We had our doctors appointment on Monday and received some surprising news.  Chandler is breech so at this point if she doesn't turn by our next doctors appointment then the doctor will go ahead and schedule us for a C-Section.  I have so many feeling about this but I told Spencer we would do whatever it takes in order to make sure she gets here safely.  Just knowing that she could potentially be here in 2 weeks if not sooner makes me anxious, excited, terrified and so many other emotions that I can't even put my finger on but we are both so excited to meet her!

34 Weeks

Thursday, May 29, 2014

How far along: 34 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  About the size of a pumpkin
Weight gain:
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: Being able to sit for long periods of time (I desperately want to go to a baseball game), beer and deli sandwiches.  The weather is so nice and I really just want to sit on the back porch with Spence on our day off drinking a cold beverage, eating a sandwich and watch a baseball game on TV.  I'd also love to be able to work in our flower beds or even just be outside but dang it its hot and all I want to do is sit in the A/C, bless the girls that have to do this for the entire summer... I'm already over it.
Movement: Shes still pretty active even though she has to be running out of room.  She also presses on my bladder all day long so I'm constantly running to the bathroom.
Cravings: Cantaloupe, strawberries and grape tomatoes
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: Just normal backache and trouble getting in and out of bed, like I said I've accepted the fact that these symptoms will last for the rest of the pregnancy.  I've also had to stop wearing my rings which I'm not to happy about.
Other Updates:  Her nursery is almost done and I can't wait to share pictures of it, I think we did pretty good if I say so myself.  We like a mirror above the changing table and the shelves on her wall. I also go back to the doctor tomorrow so I'm anxious to see what her progress is!

33 Weeks

Thursday, May 22, 2014

How far along: 33 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  No significant updates this week... she should start gaining roughly 1/2 lb from here on out.  She is basically fully developed so we now just need to start adding weight to her before her arrival.
Weight gain:
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: Waking up in the middle of the night and being able to freely adjust myself to get comfortable again- I'm limited on movement options.  Also seen a sign for Happy Hour margaritas and that sounded sooooo good esp. now that the weather is warm and the days are longer.
Movement: Still feeling the wide rolls and flips... no sharp kicks this week; except the occasional kick to the bladder that makes me swear one day I will involuntarily pee myself.  She does however deform my otherwise perfect "basketball" every once in a while- head poking out on the left, knee to the bottom right- something along those lines.  Spencer gets a kick "looking" at her, he occasionally rubs what he says is her head or rump to try and make her move :) <-- she usually won't ha ha
Cravings:  Cantaloupe, chocolate frozen yogurt and hard shell tacos
Food Aversions: None
Symptoms: Same as last week [backache and trouble getting up/ rolling over in bed] plus a new one that has literally disabled me for several days :/ [I will spare the details on this one]
Other Updates:  Not a lot going on on our end, these will be the last few, quiet weeks/ weekends that we have before little miss gets here.  On Monday I took Spencer to have the pins removed from his hand, the doctor said everything has healed up nicely so now he just needs to take it easy for a week or so to let the pin hole heal up.

He has also started the restaurant remodel so hes had some long work days... hes convinced she will come in the next couple of weeks while they're busy with re-opening; I told him he better get used to it, she will never run on your schedule from here on out ;)

32 Weeks + A New Baby Cousin

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

How far along: 32 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She is roughly 4 lbs this week
Weight gain: 14 lbs- I lost 2 lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: Haven't had any just knock me down, wish I could have that moments this week
Movement: Her jabs have become more blunt at this point and shes doing a lot of rolling; I've also notcied shes had the hiccups quite a bit in the past couple of weeks.
Cravings: Strawberries, cantaloupe and hard shell tacos from Taco Bell.
Food Aversions: None this week
Symptoms: Had a hard time getting comfortable this week... she didn't seem to want to "move" with me.  If I rolled to my left side she stayed on the right or vice versa.  I think shes preparing me for all of the sleepless nights already.  Getting into an upright position is also starting to become challenging at this point- Spence has to pull me up a lot of times.
Other Updates:  So we had our doctors appt on Monday and we had surprising news.  We had a positive fetal fibronectin test which means I have a higher risk of going into labor in the next two weeks compared to someone that has a negative result.  So I started steroid shots on Tuesday and Wednesday in order to get her lungs developed JUST IN CASE she does decide to come early.  The doctor said that she wouldn't stop labor at or after 34 weeks so we roughly have one more week before we could officially meet our baby girl.  I'm anxious and nervous at the same time- I would love to meet her now but I want her to stay in as long as she can so that she can be healthy.

We also welcomed a new baby into the family! Scott and Michael Ann had Everett Michael on Friday, May 9 and he is absolutely beautiful! We can't wait until we can officially meet him!!!

31 Weeks

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

How far along: 31 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She is the size of a butternut squash and around 3.3 lbs.
Weight gain: 16 lbs
Stretch marks:  No
Belly button in or out: Flat/ out
Miss anything: I really wish I was able to have a McCallister's club sandwich and a giant Dr. Pepper.  I had several sips of Spence's Coke the other day and it was sooooo good.
Movement:  She has been throwing some serious kicks and jabs down low, some take my breath away- they also make me have to pee every hour
Cravings:  Strawberries, cantaloupe and Chicken Mango Habenero sandwiches from Dominos!
Food Aversions: None this week
Symptoms: Still having a hard time getting comfortable in bed [I'd say it will remain this way the rest of the pregnancy] and I also noticed I have a hard time getting out of my car :/  Otherwise I feel fine, getting anxious for D-Day!
Other Updates: It's so exciting to see packages at home now because all of her nursery stuff is slowly coming in... we get something new to open it seems every day.

We have another doctors appointment this coming Monday so I'm excited to find out where she's measuring and how she is doing :)

30 Weeks

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

How far along: 30 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She is roughly 3 lbs and the size of an eggplant.  Studies also show that at this stage when she sleeps she could be dreaming.
Weight gain: 16 lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Flat (should I consider this my outtie??)
Miss anything: Being able to jump right up out of bed and coffee!
Movement:  Some days I think shes mad at me... she will kick/ punch so hard I think I may pee my pants and then other times she does this gentle roll across my stomach like "Hi Momma"
Cravings: Hard shell tacos from Taco Bell, strawberries and yellow bell peppers.  I have also had a glass of chocolate milk every morning of this pregnancy; I wake up craving it horribly (with the exception of a hand full of days).
Food Aversions: None this week
Symptoms: Hard time getting out of or rolling over in bed. Ive also had a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen and contractions on and off this week.
Other Updates: I have dilated to 1cm and have started having Braxton Hicks contractions.  At this doctor appt they hooked me up to the fetal heartbeat and contraction monitor.  Baby girl was doing great, her heartbeat was 138, and no contractions showed up in the 25 minutes they monitored me.

29 Weeks

Thursday, April 24, 2014

How far along: 29 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  About the size of a head of cauliflower.  Her bones are also starting to harden this week.
Weight gain: 16 lbs
Stretch marks: None so far
Belly button in or out: Still flat
Miss anything: Beer- Spence hung a TV outside this week so we've been watching the Braves play outside since the weather is so nice [peanuts don't seem to taste as good while watching baseball without one].  I also still drool a little at the smell of coffee... and why is everyone posting pictures of them eating sushi? so unfair...
Movement:  She hasn't been AS [still pretty active though] active but she has been balling up more near the top of my stomach and the kicks/ punches she does throw seem to all catch me in the bladder
Cravings: Strawberries, cherry tomatoes and peaches
Food Aversions: None out of the ordinary this week
Symptoms: I have to pee ever 30 minutes it seems this week, it takes me 10 minutes to roll out of bed and turning over in bed... ha that's a whole other challenge on its own!!  My feet and ankles have also started swelling this week if I stay up on them for too long.
Other Updates: Nursery is painted, crib and dresser are ordered [crib is here!]

This past week was Easter as well, as always we had the greatest time with my family.  I sat out on this years egg hunt but it was fun watching everyone else.  I also of course over indulged [is that even possible] on every sweet thing I could find so I'm sure my weight has significantly gone up since my last appointment.

This is our last week in the double digit countdown!

28 Weeks

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

How far along: 28 Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She's roughly 2 1/2 lbs and the size of a head of lettuce.
Weight gain: 15 lbs
Stretch marks: None so far
Belly button in or out: Still flat
Miss anything: Coffee! I can smell it from a mile away I think.  Still have the overwhelming sushi craving... hope that sticks around after Little Miss is born.
Movement:  Very much active this week. Its so neat to see her move around from the outside; sometimes its a little wave, other times its a huge jab.
Cravings: Toots!  We weren't able to stop after my 2nd glucose test this week so maybe in the next week or so I will get it!
Food Aversions: None out of the ordinary this week
Symptoms: Just some pressure, other than that I feel great!
Other Updates: Nursery was painted this weekend, furniture is picked out and in the process of being ordered and the nursery closet is being stocked and organized; finally having that feeling of "Holy Catfish we're bringing home a baby in 2 1/2 months!!!".

I passed my 2nd glucose test [I failed the first one]!! Whohoo... bring on the entire cake!

Kitchen was officially finished this week as well!  As soon as I think about it when I drag myself through the door [and Spencer touches up some paint scuffs] I will take pictures and publish the Kitchen Remodel post.

27 Weeks + Music Room Re-Do

Friday, April 11, 2014

How far along: 27  Weeks [hello 3rd trimester!!]
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She can now open and close her eyelids.  She is as big as a head of cauliflower and around 15 in long!
Weight gain: 14 lbs
Stretch marks: None so far
Belly button in or out: Still flat
Miss anything: Just the usual, not as dominant this week though, except for sushi... and wine (I blame work) :/
Movement: Still pretty active, she hates loud noises and usually goes bonkers around them
Cravings: Still on the fresh wagon: tomato's, broccoli (w/ ranch dip), salads
Food Aversions: nothing out of the ordinary- fast food still doesn't sound appetizing
Symptoms: Just mild backaches and the occasional headache this week; I've also had a lot of abdominal pressure lately
Other Updates: I had a doctors appt this week and had several new developments:
I have actually only gained 14 lbs... obviously my scale at home is messed up ;).  I failed my glucose test :( so now I have to go back for the 3 hour one next Monday.  I have also had quite a bit of pressure so she decided to just check me out right quick.  She used the hand held heartbeat monitor to check the baby's heartbeat... which Chandler hated.  She actually kicked Dr. Strnad and was trying to move away from it so Dr. Strnad pressed on my left side to "hold" Chandler still so she could listen clearly.

Spence was also out of town this week on a business trip (first time he has left me since we've been married, feels so weird to be on this side of the business travel situation) so it gave me the opportunity to have my parents and his uncle come down to help me surprise him by having the music room [now officially the office/ bonus room] re-done; Jordan also came over to help them move the safe and desk out.  He comes home Wednesday night so I can't wait to see his reaction.  FYI-this was the catch all room for the kitchen remodel so excuse some of the misc items like the mixer, microwave/ table/ and rug in the corner in the before pics... they weren't usually there.

Here are the before and afters:

I had already started taking down the drums when I remembered to take a pic

Now onto the nursery!

26 Weeks

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Please excuse the blurriness... have no idea why I couldn't get it to focus :/

How far along: 26  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  All 5 of her senses are fully developed.  She weighs around 2 lbs and is the size of a large zucchini.
Weight gain: 15 lbs... no real weight gain this week
Stretch marks: None so far
Belly button in or out: Still flat
Miss anything: Coffee, wine, sushi, tanning bed (I feel pasty), Dr. Pepper, deli sandwiches... pretty much everything I can't have
Movement: Shes rolling and throwing some serious punches now
Cravings: Grilled, fresh veggies... can't wait until we officially start grilling.
Food Aversions: Bleh, same as last week... anything fast food
Symptoms: Backaches and can't seem to find a comfortable spot but sleep is definitely not an issue
Other Updates:  Kitchen remodel is almost complete!! We are actually back into it now so I can cook and do dishes but they messed up our bar countertop and they didn't level the floor under the refridgerator so they have to redo it.  I will take pictures once its officially done [maybe I will have gotten it restocked and all the finishing touches done by then as well].
Now onto the nursery!!!!!

25 Weeks

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

So hopefully this is the last week we miss a picture.  We're on the last leg of the remodel and to say the least our household is a little hectic!!

How far along: 25  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She has hair now and fingernails.  She is roughly the size of a squash and my uterus is the size of a soccer ball [I believe it :/]
Weight gain: 15 lbs
Stretch marks: None
Belly button in or out: Still flat
Miss anything: Still missing coffee like crazy, I drool at the smell of it... and why is everyone around me talking about the best wine they have ever had?! [boo on you guys!]
Movement: I can finally see her kick from the outside... that was a little different.  She also balls up quite frequently, at first it was when I laid down or stood up too fast but now she just randomly does it and my stomach hardens where shes at
Cravings: Is it possible to crave water... I cant seem to get enough of it! Still also craving fruit [any kind] and juice
Food Aversions: Anything fast food related [esp Taco Bell]... I'm so sick of fast food since this remodel
Symptoms: None out of the ordinary... just the usual backache but I'm not entirely sure that's completely pregnancy related
Other Updates: So at the beginning of this [pregnancy] week I had my first really clumsy pregnancy experience... I fell down at work :/ Not hard or anything but just enough to jar my back.  So I called the doctor and they wanted to check me out since we are so far along at this point.  Since Spence was already at work I called my mom and asked her to go with me.  The did a NST where they hooked a heartbeat and contraction monitor up to my stomach which if under different circumstances I would have been ecstatic about but I was a nervous wreck once I got there.  Everything is good to go though, baby girl was super active (especially once she could hear her heartbeat from the outside; she freaked over that) and her heartbeat was perfectly normal; and no contractions on my end.

I also celebrated my 27th birthday during this week... I'm a little bummed that I had to get a year older before baby girl gets here and Spencer doesn't

24 Weeks

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

So in the midst of all the mayhem going on in our house I forgot to get this weeks picture

How far along: 24  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She's 12 inches... which is the size of a Subway footlong sandwich [I drooled a little as I typed that]
Weight gain: 13lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Were still flat on this one
Miss anything: COFFEE!!! I know I can have small amounts but its not the same, I feel like my sense of smell is heightened to this right now.  I'm also starting to crave sushi again [sigh]
Movement: Still a lot of movement and shes starting to ball up in certain spots... I can lay down and if I do it too quickly then I have this little ball sticking up on my stomach that's hard as a rock and I have to rub her back down ha ha
Cravings: Krystal's burgers, eck... hated them before pregnancy and now those little suckers taste so good [thanks Spence :/] and Oven Roasted Chicken subs from Subway
Food Aversions: The thought of Taco Bell turns me off
Symptoms: Still feeling pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary
Other Updates: Kitchen remodel is still going on, they're thinking another week and a half and we will have out kitchen back.

I also think we officially decided on nursery colors [whoop whoop!] and it doesn't match any of the nursery designs in my earlier post so disregard that one all together.  I'm so anxious to get this kitchen remodel behind us so we can start working on baby girls nursery!

23 Weeks

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

So due to our recent kitchen construction I don't have access to my chalkboard since its in the closet... behind the spot where we stacked all of our kitchen stuff :/.  So for the next couple of weeks I will have to do a belly shot without the chalkboard updates.

How far along: 23  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  We officially have a 1 pounder!! Actually she was at 1 lb 3 oz on 3/7 and is as big as an eggplant.
Weight gain: 10 lbs
Stretch marks: None
Belly button in or out: Still in, I will just call it flat at this point
Miss anything: Oh just the normal things... those haven't changed much from week to week.  I officially have to go to maternity pants [can still do most pre-pregnancy tops]; the hair tie trick or completely unbuttoned look was no longer working; so I'm starting to miss some of my cuter jeans and shorts now that the weather is warming up.
Movement: Shes still bumping around in there.  Kicks/ punches are definitely more defined; no more flutters
Cravings: Still on the fresh wagon [carrots w/ ranch dip, tomatoes, fruit] even though I don't really have any specific cravings; some stuff just sounds better than others
Food Aversions: None so far
Symptoms: Feel pretty good this week, finally over my crud [still have some congestion and a cough].  I find it hard to get comfortable when laying down but after a few minutes I'm good to go.
Other Updates:  I had a doctors appt on Friday March 7th and everything is good to go at this point.  Baby girl is measuring where she is supposed to.  In 4 weeks I go back for the gestational diabetes testing, then another appt 3 weeks after that then were at 2 appts every month! How is time going by this fast?!?

Our kitchen remodel has also started, its not as fun as I thought it would be :/  I will post a blog with before and after pictures... huge transformation underway.

Oh and BTW- were back to square one on the nursery design... Spence isn't totally in love with anything that we have looked at thus far

22 Weeks

Friday, March 7, 2014

How far along: 22  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates:  She can hear things like my voice, stomach churn and even my heart beat.  Her eyes are also able to sense light this week.
Weight gain:  8 lbs
Stretch marks: no
Belly button in or out: Still in
Miss anything: Oh the usual ha, no huge cravings that I couldn't suffice this week though
Movement: Definitely, Spencer was actually able to feel her this week too!  I think I was more excited that he was able to feel her than I was the first time I actually felt her.
Cravings:  Still on the fresh train... fruit and veggies with ranch dip
Food Aversions: None out of the ordinary
Symptoms: None pregnancy related... still trying to kick all the congestion and draining Ive had from the sinus infection.  I have slept so good through all of the stuffiness which is surprising to me.
Other Updates: I unfortunately have not been able to completely get rid of the crud I had the week before.  I ended up having to make a doctors appointment and was put on an antibiotic and nasal spray.

21 Weeks

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

So.... I somehow totally skipped taking a 21 week picture :/ Whoops

How far along: 21  Weeks
Gender: Girl
Chandler Updates: She is about 10 1/2 in long, she can also suck her thumb and open/ close her eyes
Weight gain: 5 lbs
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Still in-ish
Miss anything: Deli sandwiches and cheese dip from the Mexican restaurant.  This weather has also made me miss Lookouts games with peanuts... and beer [can you have one without the other at a baseball game?!?]
Movement: Oh yes, shes a mover and a shaker... can finally feel her movements from the outside
Cravings: Fruit esp Granny Smith apples and tangerines.
Food Aversions: Not anything out of the ordinary although I have been slightly picky about what I actually eat this week
Symptoms: Oh holy round ligament pains- I had one the other night that brought tears to my eyes and caused me to curl into the fetal position on the floor while Sadie looked on highly confused. Slight backache and some congestion, despite all this I have [amazingly] slept like a log this week.
Other Updates: The Wayne household has been plagued with sickness all week. Spencer has had a sinus infection and a blown out back. I had the WORST congestion, headache and a low grade fever all weekend. I think we're finally back on track though so we were able to enjoy some of this gorgeous "Spring" weather before we go back to freezing our tails off this coming week.

We also have the kitchen remodel scheduled for the beginning of next month so I will try to remember to take before, during and after photos to share.  I'm excited but oh so nervous to have our house invaded and ripped apart  for 3 weeks.

20 Weeks

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

How far along: 20 Weeks <-- Half way there whohoo!
Gender: Girl
*Chandler Updates: She is as big as a squash and as long as carrot.
Weight gain: 4 lbs
Stretch marks: none so far, I hold my breath for this one every week
Belly button in or out: In, still getting shallow; I must say I'm ready for it to be out!
Miss anything: The usual... and coke. I told Spence I want a huge Dr. Pepper waiting on me after delivery
Mood:  Upbeat and happy
Movement: Definitely... baby girl likes to squirm and squirm down low and I do mean looow.  I think she thinks my bladder is a trampoline.
Cravings: Well since I shamelessly scarfed down a WHOLE box 2 whole boxes of Girl Scout cookies at work this week I guess you could say I still crave anything sweet... chocolate milk, peanut butter balls [thanks Aunt Nancy, Chandler LOVES those ;)], Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal... and the milk it sat in. I have loved the Dole mango cups... I have polished off several of those this week.  I also had half a Sierra Mist the other night which [slightly] curbed my craving for coke.
Food Aversions: Nah at this point I will eat pretty much anything you put in front of me
Symptoms: Gas... and a lot of it, so classy I know.  Also still have the pregnancy acne... lucky me.
Other Updates: Still panicking over the scheme/ colors for the nursery.  I know I'm way ahead of myself but at this point I'm thinking her bedding will have to be custom made and if I don't do it now then she will come home to an unfinished room since it may not be done in time, and I can't decide on anything else until I pick out bedding [see how this snow balls irrationally in my head]...
On another note we have had some gorgeous weather this week for February, hello low 60's!, so Spencer and I have been soaking this up... did a little hiking to look at some property- this about killed me [I'm way out of shape] and I told Spence to just leave me on a stump and go on with his dad, I sat on that stump for an hour overlooking the mountains, it was absolutely breathtaking.

*I decided to add this in so that we can also keep track of new things developing with baby girl as she grows.

19 Weeks

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

How far along: 19 Weeks
Gender: Baby Wayne is a... GIRL!!!
Weight gain: 3 lbs
Stretch marks: none so far
Belly button in or out: In [getting a little shallow though]
Miss anything: Deli sandwiches, I would kill for a McCallisters club
Mood: Feeling pretty good this week!!
Movement: Starting to feel some bumps and kicks in there, feels like tiny bubbles or butterflies
Cravings: Not really, I've had a massive sweet tooth though [I blame all the Valentine treats floating around]
Food Aversions: Nothing out of the ordinary this week
Symptoms: Still have the backache and finding it hard to get comfortable this week
Other Updates: I am so anxious to get started on baby girls room!!  We picked out some paint colors/ color schemes this week so I'm shopping for bedding for the next couple of weeks to see what I can find

We also officially have a name: Chandler Zella Wayne

Zella is Spencer's grandmothers [Hunnie] name and since she was such an influential part of his upbringing and one of the main reasons he turned out to be the man he is today we felt it appropriate to give Chandler her name.  I couldn't be any happier with how cute and strong our baby girl's name is- high five babe!

So we took Spence's picture with the board this week too-

This is how he thinks it is [sending a message to all the future boys that may come around]:

How it actually is haha:
